Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Welcome at the airport / port, rental car delivery and transfer to the Hotel or apartment.

Valverde – Tiñor – El Garoé – Valverde

(12 km, 550 mt ascent / descent, 5 hours)

Your first walk will take you to discover the history of water on the island from the past to the present, represented by the mythical sacred Garoé tree surrounded by its “pools” and by the pilot project of the Gorona del Viento hydro-wind power plant. A circular route with rapid changes in landscape from meadows to evergreen forests and stretches of red clay.

Afternoon discovering the norther coast of the island: Pozo de Las Calcosas, Charco Manso, Las Puntas

Hoya del Pino – Malpaso – Dos Hermanas – Hoya del Pino

(14 km, 550 mt ascent / descent, 5 hours)

Today’s route offers a wide variety of ecosystems and views. It begins in Hoya del Pino in the heart of the laurel forest and fayal-brezal. You will walk on the crest of the island, reaching the highest point, through sections of volcanic ash and with panoramic views of the southern pine forests until when the path begins to descend towards Hoya del Pino from Dos Hermanas. Sections of these routes were paths traditionally used to connect the villages from the upper part of the island to El Golfo.

In the afternoon we suggest to visit the recreational area of El Morcillo in the heart of the Canary Pine forest.

Sanctuary of “La Virgen de Los Reyes” – El Sabinar – Mirador de Sabinosa – Sanctuary of “La Virgen de Los Reyes”

(9 km, 150 mt ascent / descent, 3 hours)

After a very panoramic transfer to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de Los Reyes, patron of the island and starting point of the traditional procession “Bajada de La Virgen”, your walk will begin through the pastures of the Dehesa to the Sabinar, a forest of endemic junipers that theTrade Winds shape in amazing twisted shapes. From the Bascos Viewpoint with vertiginous views of El Golfo, the path goes up the “letime” and then goes downhill into the Dehesa until it reaches the Sanctuary.

Afternoon discovering the Orchilla Lighthouse, the Meridian 0 monument and its surroundings.
Transfer to La Restinga.

Departure with the boat at 10 am from the port of La Restinga: first dive, rest and refreshment is normally carried out on the boat (although we can return to port), sailing to the next point of immersion, reaching La Restinga at 1 pm. There are 24 immersion points, 12 located inside the marine reserve of La Restinga and another 12 points located in the limits of the same, all of them with great landscaping interest and animal life, with its peculiarities that make of El Hierro a destination so visited by divers.
