WHO WE ARE

Hi,
We are Enrica and Paolo

Hi, we are Enrica and Paolo! Our love for nature, hiking, uncontaminated areas and traveling brought us together in 2000 in the vast Libyan desert.… Together we began the journey of our life that brought us to El Hierro. It was love at first sight, just as our love was! El Hierro has completely captivated us, making us want to participate in its programs for sustainable development which includes tourism. So in 2008, the idea of sharing our enthusiasm gave birth to Atlantidea, which offers hiking tours along the island’s trails and joins our experience, passion and attitude in a common project … We are looking forward to meeting you ….!

Why walking with us?

…certainly not because otherwise you will get lost!… since most of the trails are well marked, but to have the opportunity to enrich a beautiful and healthy hike in a wonderful and very various nature with something we can add to it: you will get to know the variety of the nature interpreting its changes depending of the altitude and the exposition, learning how to discover the native flora and its peculiarity; you will observe the many geologic forms given by the hundreds volcanoes with different kinds of eruptions during the format of the island; you will go back to the time of the “Bimbache” and the Conquerors learning about the history through the chronicles an legends still alive along the trails and looking at the future with the important projects of the Island.

With your car you can get to a Meeting Point where each route begins and where we will bring you back with our vehicle at the end of the route.

Important!

Our routes are for you if you like to walk and that is something you usually do on a regular basis; you are in acceptable physical shape with no health problems; you can overcome certain unevennesses both going down and going up.

We recommend appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear (preferably hiking boots or shoes). It is also advisable to bring enough food and drink, in addition to sunscreen, hat, protective jacket against the wind or rain, trekking poles and warm clothing, especially in the winter months. Certainly a good idea is to use different layers of clothing that can be easily removed and replaced.

Hiking brings us closer to natural environments and allows us to enjoy them calmly, observing and learning. We hikers move respecting the places where we pass, trying to leave as little trace of our presence as possible. We take care of the natural environment and the trails, always remembering that nature is life.

Do not throw garbage or leave waste, be respectful of nature, its flora and fauna and respect the rules of the places where you pass.
